BUSINESS PROTECTOR EXPRESS™ SOFTWARE
(BP EXPRESS) “Business Protection Systems has developed BP Express™ to allow small organizations and satellite offices to create comprehensive business continuity/risk management plans. “BP Express™ is a stand-alone application that may be upgraded to Business Protector for Windows™ (DR445) as an organization grows or introduces the planning methodology to multiple locations. Installation of BP Express™ is done directly from CD or the web and is a simple 2-minute process. - - - - - - - - - - USAGE OF BP EXPRESS™ FOR A SMALL OFFICE ENVIRONMENT “The user is presented with a sample business continuity plan from which they choose a section to edit. Once a plan section is selected, a form appears showing all the text and data in that part of the plan. The user then may edit the text of the plan and the data appearing in that section. “Any data that is entered (name of hardware item, IT application, persons etc.) is stored in the database and becomes available for use in other plans. This eliminates the need for re-entry of information. Once a section has been edited the plan may be printed from the application. “Snapshots of the plan may be taken which then can be distributed, via email, to interested parties. The table of contents may be altered to reflect changes made by the user. “BP Express is password protected and was designed to be more powerful, but easier to use, than a word processor. A comprehensive help file will assist users with BP Express™ and business continuity methodology. Users will be able to use BP Express™ within a few minutes of installation. - - - - - - - - - - USAGE OF BP EXPRESS™ FOR LARGER COMPANIES WITH REMOTE LOCATIONS “For larger organizations, BP Express™ is used to retain central control over the planning process of departments, satellite locations or business units in conjunction with Business Protector for Windows™. Data is transferred very easily between the two, eliminating the need to install the program over a wide area network. “BP Express™ is used to create one plan (for a building, department, team, and business function or recovery procedure). When an organization has more then ten teams, a central coordinator may be required. Operating from the main building, this person will set the company business continuity planning standards, but will also need to enforce and keep control of these standards. “The text of the BC plan is created at the central location, using Business Protector for Windows™ and company standard data such as preferred suppliers, hardware, vital record stores etc. The plan structure is then exported to BP Express™ for distribution to remote locations. “Creating plans with Business Protector Express is a simple process: Step 1: Gather information on the building Step 2: Gather information on the departments. These will become the recovery teams. Step 3: Once the teams/departments are created, the user then has to choose the type of plan to produce. The user then chooses from the list of plan types. “The product uses the functionality of the world’s leading desktop database application so the user is immediately familiar with the interface of the planning tool. Step 4: Once the plan type is chosen, the structure of the plan is displayed. The plan may be edited by double clicking on a section of the plan. You may choose a different template type from this form. Step 5: The user starts inputting the data into the various plan sections. The information is stored within the database. The body text can be edited.
