Example Pandemic Preparedness Plan

A good pandemic plan should incorporate:

  • activities to monitor the current risk of a pandemic due to avian (bird) flu, swine flu, or other infectious diseases,
  • actions to take prior to an epidemic to reduce the probability and impact of a pandemic (including staff awareness campaigns and altered working arrangements),
  • actions to take during an epidemic to continue operations with reduced staffing, and with constraints imposed by government regulation, and legitimate staff and supplier concerns about infection.
  • actions to take after an epidemic has subsided to resume normal or near-normal operations.
